« Nintendo has admitted that work on its next Game Boy handheld - a device completely different to the upcoming DS - is well underway.
The news was revealed by Euro boss David Gosen at the ELSPA Games Summit last week.
"New Game Boy iterations are under review right now, before the first DS is sold," Gosen told attendees at the ELSPA event, during a keynote address in which he rallied the industry to embrace any market transition as an opportunity to bring new innovations to the market.
The company's upcoming dual screened handheld is only just around the corner for the US market - set for Q4 - but Nintendo has asserted that the DS will exist alongside the Game Boy line. The GBA SP remains ever-popular across all major territories, so it makes no surprise that the company still wants to keep the name and market for its most powerful hardware brand strong. Only last week the company launched the original GBA into the Chinese territory, a massive market usually overlooked by other legitimate hardware companies due to an intense culture of low-priced pirate games. »
